Space Engineers is a game about creativity and exploration of the great unknown. In it, you can create machines that do work for you, space ships, rovers, and planetary bases.

Each planet within the game features a unique challenge to contend with that alters the way that you build your creations. This effect is subtle but definitely present.  For example, some planets don't have an atmosphere, so you'll need to find a source of breathable air, or build one yourself. You'll then need to build in an air-tight manner to conserve oxygen.

I personally enjoy the challenges of building mostly ground-based vehicles to traverse the planets.  This method of building is well complemented by some mods created by the enthusiastic community of players, such as the Concrete mod which lets you create visual pathways without expending millions of steel plates. It is also safer to drive on roads made in this fashion, as you don't need to slow down any time you need to change elevation.

There are almost no limits to what you can build in this game, especially when it comes to the tens of thousands of mod blocks to choose from. You can even build 1:1 scale models of Sci-Fi spaceships from popular novels or movies in it if you wanted to. The only limits are your time, patience, and creativity.

Regarding Live Streaming potential, that is where this game shines. Given its open-ended, and even programmable nature, there are a lot of different ways you can create an interesting plot to draw in an audience. Couple that with the fact that the game rewards your efforts with what is essentially a 3D model of your own making, I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I create something.

4.8/5

Unfortunately, this game isn't all that popular at the end of the day. The very same things that make this game great for experienced players, also makes it a bit difficult to approach for new players. Not to mention that this game is directly competing for players from the likes of Minecraft, Roblox, and other voxel-based building games. the competition is on another level. Still, I find this game to be an incredibly enjoyable and relaxing experience. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and build something for no reason at all.
